They had already loaded 155 bales of hay on one wagon by the time we got there and they severely needed reinforcements! Matthew and I pretty much loaded a smaller wagon by ourselves of 117 more bales, allowing the main worker from the other wagon to drive the truck. There are still 50 or 60 bales of hay to be picked up, but Larry said he wasn't going to get them until about 8:00 this evening when it is a bit cooler. I told him I would come back and help, but Matthew had his fire meeting to go to.
It really felt good to help out a neighbor and to work hard! I am thankful that God gave me the health and opportunity to get out and do something on this hot, hot day. As a matter of fact, it was the hottest day we have had so far this summer, and instead of complaining about it, I looked the sun straight in the eyes with defiance and said with a growl, "Bring it on! You don't scare me! I'm tough as nails! I'm not over the hill, yet, even though I'm celebrating birthday number 44!"
(Now I just need some Tylenol, a cool wash cloth, a back rub, some sun-burn lotion....)
Here are some images from my birthday celebration we had yesterday. Notice that no one looks to be "over the hill"? Why, just the next day that old guy would be working in the sun in 107 degree heat for a couple of hours!
But first the delicious chocolate frosted yellow cake:

The young and strong birthday boy (me) with the delicious cake:

Here is proof of my young age:

We always lick the icing off the candles. I let Timothy have one of the fours, and I got the other:

Lord, thank you for giving me another birthday and thank you for my health. I thank you for the wonderful year of life that just went by. Help me to be a better soldier for you during my 45th year of life, and I will give you all the credit and praise!
