The End of 2010

We are having an absolutely beautiful weather weekend for the end of 2010 here at Purewater Hollow! As I write this the sun is blinding me coming in through the window. With our back to the sun, outside, all we can see is speckled brown and white hillsides and blue skies above! The official Purewater Hollow thermometer: a balmy 65 degrees! Yesterday it got up to 62 degrees with similar sun and blue skies, although we had some cold rain in the morning.

To celebrate New Year's Eve, we are staying home and going to have a movie night. Our home was TV free through the month of December, and it was really a blessing for us. Yesterday, I got a smaller, old style TV and it is currently sitting on a table where we will all be able to see it. I rented the movie Toy Story 3 to watch tonight. Christina and Simon saw it last summer with Grandma and Tom, but they said they would like to see it again. Erica has also seen it at college, but she wants to see it again. For the rest of us, it will be something new! It is difficult to find movies that we think will be ok for family viewing.

The girls have made up all sorts of candy and finger food snacks and pizzas and dipping sauces and braunschweiger crackers and cheese crackers and pigs in a blanket and ...... ; I think they have really outdone themselves! We will be snacking and eating soon and just enjoying the family being together.

We will also be reflecting on the manifold blessings the Lord has showered down upon us this past year, and we will pray in the new year together as a family! I like being in commune with God along with my family, the very first moments of each new year! He has been so good to us and I know He will go with us all the way, into the new year and beyond! (I resisted the urge to say that God will go with us "to infinity, and beyond" , although it is closer to a true statement with God than with Buzz Lightyear! God is everlasting and our eternal life with him is, well... eternal. If there is anything beyond "infinity" it would have to be God!)
